The Dalmas Affair
PART FOUR
The Enemy Of My Enemy Is My Enemy
The investigators split up with some at the warehouse and the others in a truck outside Magoon's.

Having spoken to both the fake feds from Chicago and the duo of Manolo Fuentes and Lou Lid the investigators wait for their new allies to attack Magoon's speakeasy.

Magoons Speakeasy
MAGOONS SPEAKEASY

The Chicago crew are a cagey lot and first go off to a clothing store and get kitted out in waiters clothing.

They then gain access to the establishment through a trade entrance via the kitchen.

Finding two gangsters in a next door lounge, the Chicago crew then shoot and kill them both and head downstairs to the casino (A bit of a Mickey Mouse Affair really).

Who Waits On The Waiter?
WHO WAITS ON THE WAITERS?

However instead of leading to the gaming tables it leads them to an ornate meeting room with a bar where a classy lady who turns out to be very mouthy, is being entertained by a younger brother of Magoon's senior henchmen, Ricketts and two waiters, who turn out to be armed.

The lady turns out to be Mrs Courtney Prendergast.

A shootout ensues and the two waiters and Ricketts junior are shot and killed and the lady, a Mrs Courtney Prendergast, is taken prisoner.

Hearing footsteps behind them and seeing no way out due to one other door in the room being barricaded they turn to the lady.

She advises the Chicagoans to move a particular book on a bookshelf revealing a passage leading to a heavy door.

RICKETTS AND MRS PRENDERGAST

They dash through and use the dead Ricketts keys to unlock the door where they find another more lived in room.

It has a small curtain at the end, behind which is a bed and a very scared frenchie called Yves Barabeau.

It also has a dumb waiter leading to back up to the kitchen. Hearing pursuit behind them they briefly question Yves who explains he is a prisoner and, while kept in quiet luxury, are forced to do Magoon's bidding.

Dumb Waiter
DUMB WAITER

Owning Cops Isn't Enough He Seems To Like Owning Thieves Too.
A dash back to the other room and the Chicagoans loose a few pineapples at their pursuers.

Retreating back to the frenchies room they then take apart the dumb waiter and send one of their numbers up the rope.

Behind them there is an odd clunking thudding coming from the stairs they had just come down. They then hear a loud hiss.

An acrid smell starts to emanate from the far room and everyone decides to climb the rope upstairs to the kitchen.

Not a moment too soon as the gas permeates into the frenchies room.

MUSTARD GAS ATTACK

Hearing a commotion on the ground floor from the kitchen they then see a group of mobsters all being ordered around in the main hallway.

Just as they have barked their orders Lou and Fuentes smash through the main door in a snowplough and start machine gunning the mobsters.

Six or seven mobsters are killed but Fuentes is machine gunned from the upper floor balcony overlooking the hallway.

Lid Lou And Manolo Fuentes Attack
LID AND MANOLO ATTACK

A white suited huntsman shot Fuentes with his rifle but then Smith of Chicago killed the hunter.

Lou doesn't waste time lamenting his smelly confederate and surges upstairs.

The Chicagoans, hearing movement in the kitchen realise that their pursuers are also climbing up the dumb waiter.

They leave the kitchen and position themselves around the hall and behind the no crashed snowplough.

A blast of a flamethrower narrowly misses them and the and they answer with a spray of Tommy gun fire and grenades.

This causes the unfortunate user of the flamethrower to erupt.

The kitchen and the hallway are now ablaze.

Where Did The Flamethrower Come From?
WHERE DID THE FLAMETHROWER COME FORM?

This causes the demise of the unfortunate Barbeau who was hiding in the kitchen.

Having gone upstairs Lou Lid then opens an upstairs door and takes heavy fire from within, Incredibly all the bullets miss.

Downstairs a scared Mrs court Prendergast crawls though the door wrecked by the snow plough.

The investigators grab her and await developments from a safe place down the road.

Where is Magoon and the rest of his Kaiserschlacht troops and where do you buy mustard gas? Not from sears and roebuck.

And where are the cops or did no-one REALLY notice a snowplough thundering through Manhattan on a balmy April day driven by a sharp suited enormous Negro in a cravat? All will be revealed.
