SLOVENIA - POSTUMIA
FEBRUARY 1923
FRIDAY FEBRUARY 9, 1923: POSTUMIA

The day dawns ominously as the Bora howls menacingly through the streets. Wesley acquires a poor tourist map of the caves, whilst Donelly collects the various silver vampire-killing weapons he ordered. Pini is set to remain concealed in the other hotel. Trent suffers a horrific nightmare tormented by the howling of Ithacaer. Gupta is under arrest until he can be deported later on that day on the Orient Express where he will wait for us. Planning and preparing for our next destinination.

Gupta In Jail

Joseph and Trent decide to check out our tentacled-friend Antoni Termona. When they arrive, they notice three large vehicles parked in front of his house. It looks like the cultists are mobilising too... Also observing the house is the pitiful figure of Grossinger and another disjointed discussion concludes that trouble lies ahead and 18 + or – Cultsists where in the house. He is still keeping an eye on Antoni Termona and pleads for Joseph and Trent to leave. Trent spots someone looking at them from the house and they both leave.

Wesley, Donelly, Simon, Irma, Gaidar, and Trent depart for Postumia, in a hired truck and car, in the late afternoon to arrive at dusk. We park in the woods, concealing our vehicles as well as possible. A small house stands before the main tourist entrance to the caves but there doesn't appear to be anyone else around. We break into the house take some keys and unplug and hide the telephone. Unfortunately we forget to call the operator to find out about any recent calls made. If we had of done so - we would now know that hordes of cultists are presently descending on the caves. And not for a teddy bear’s picnic...

Hired Truck And Car

We enter the caves following the most recent tracks spotted by Trent, commandeering the small tourist mining trucks designed for the caverns. Using minimal light, we proceed until we reach a large chamber. There is a sudden flash of a gunshot and we realize we are being ambushed from two sides. Flares are launched by Wesley and Gaidar at our would-be attackers, illuminating them so that we can pick them off with a barrage of shots. We all survive the initial exchange, but some minor injuries are incurred, Irma takes 6 Damage. At the conclusion of the skirmish we ascertain that the next wave of attack is on the way (3 on the left & 3 on the right flanks) - we swiftly take up positions to draw the cultists into crossfire. Wesley and Donelly on one side hidden behind stalactites, with the others are taking cover behind the trucks. We launch some more flares which reveal the shadowy, occasionally tentacled vermin as they creep through the darkness towards us. As soon as they are within point-blank-range we unleash a volley of deadly fire (2 in front of Wesley & Donelly & 3 on the right flank). Donnelly’s BAR cutting down two of the fiends on the spot with a combination of rifle-fire, SMG and shotguns reducing the attacking horde to a bloody mess on the cavern floor.

The Battle Of Postumia Caves

One of the attackers is still barely conscious. In his death throes, he confidently assures us that we are going to die at the hands of his colleagues who will be arriving at the caves soon. After some discussion about what to do next, we decide to travel back through the tunnel to meet our pursuers head-on. As we see another mine truck rattling towards us we leap out of ours and watch it crash in to the approaching cultists, causing injury and mayhem amongst them (Donelly take damage from jumping off the train 5). We move forwards under the cover of darkness and distribute grenades and gunfire amongst the twisted and tentacled troglodytes sending their spirits to join their evil Lloigor tormentor masters (7 more cultists taken out).

Fenalik The Tiger

Sensing victory against the evil horde, we make our way back to the entrance in anticipation of another fire fight. As we cautiously make our way out of the caves we see the body of a cultist. He appears to have been killed in a highly singular manner with a variety of biting, rending and slashing wounds. Wesley eventually denotes that he was probably killed - not by a teddy bear - but by a ... tiger. Putting 2 and 2 together, and thanks to his ever expanding scientific understanding of the so-called "occult", Wesley realizes that it was probably Fenalik who transformed himself from a gas into a tiger and then killed the cultists...
